Philips Semiconductor (Now NXP Semiconductor) has a history dating back to the 1940s. From their first product, a point-contact transistor, they have devoted themselves to research and development. Due in part to their efforts in helping to shape the future of semiconductor technologies, the company became Europe's largest semiconductor manufacturer in 1986. In 2006 Philips Semiconductor became NXP semiconductor and, under their new name, continued to pave the way for the future of the industry.
